Terraced buildings will boast mid-rise built form elements that will frame views onto parks and key open spaces, assists in achieving a transition between the base, podium, and towers, and deliver a large assortment of outdoor amenity spaces. Lastly, a number of taller tower elements will range from 18 to 35 stories in height. Podium and terraces elements preserve a comfortable human scale at grade.

Phase 1 of this project which includes Block 5 demolishes the western portion of the Galleria Shopping Centre to facilitate the construction of the new Wallace Emerson Community Centre as well as 571 new residential units. The construction will also include multiple pathways intended for pedestrian use which will act as a connection to the retail promenade. The newly constructed streets will also connect to 5-Points Plaza which will be a great errand-focused destination for the community. There will be a new, large grocery store, a pharmacy and an LCBO on-site

Location & Neighbourhood

Galleria On The Park has a Walk Score of 91/100 which is expected to increase as the community takes form– and the Transit Score of 85/100 will surely increase as well, especially since the project is considered a pedestrian and cyclist focused community. A range of cycling paths will connect with the main roads and create a multi-modal area. Residents will enjoy having a TTC stop just at the front door and being within 15 minutes by car to downtown Toronto.

The proposal for the site aims to facilitate transit travel by enhancing connections to and from existing and planned stops as well as integrating transit services within the site itself. Freed and Elad has worked alongside the TTC for comments on the new diagonal street set to run through the revitalized neighborhood. A new bus route will see TTC vehicles loop through the site and an additional bus bay will be incorporated in the plan as requested by the TTC.

The new development is also located within a 10-minute walking distance to the areas’ most beautiful parks: Bartlett Parkette, Chandos Park South, Beaver Lightbourn Park, and Bristol Avenue Parkette. Within 10 minutes by transit, residents will arrive at Dufferin Mall Shopping Centre where they will have access to over 120 stores and services such as No Frills Grocery Store, Toys R Us, Winners, ALDO, Foot Locker, Forever 21, and much, much more.
